This project was created in association with the Central Clinical School at Monash University's Alfred Hospital campus starting in early 2012. The aim was to promote the Low FODMAP Diet, which is designed to aid people with irritable bowel syndrome with symptom management, improving their quality of life.
The app was successful, reaching hundreds of thousands of sufferers and resulted in a handful of stories run on Melbourne's Channel 9 news. The app has occupied the #1 position in Medical in the Australian App Store since release and has also remained in the Australian 'Paid Top 100' and 'Top Grossing' apps since that time.
The app is currently undergoing translation to multiple languages to broaden its international reach. My involvement in this project ended near the end of 2015.
The app was converted from a Core Data/SQLite on Android-based app to a web-backend dependent app with local caching in 2015, to improve the data update workflow. This involved the development of an API and internal administration web application in Rails. As of end 2015, the API supports over a million requests a day.
